Speaking during the announcement of the 131-room “luxury experience” hotel, which will be run together with Valor Hospitality Partners Africa, InterContinental’s MD for India, Middle East and Africa, Pascal Gauvin, said, “True to the brand promise, the new hotel will offer a unique hospitality experience to guests, and will cater to the increasing number of domestic and international travellers looking for quality branded accommodation in South Africa.”

The nearly completed hotel has been built on the site of what used to be First National Bank’s Rosebank office. The voco brand already has 10 hotels in Australia, the UK, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

InterContinental has two hotels in South Africa, at O.R. Tambo International Airport and at the Sandton Towers. It also has various other hotels under its brands the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.

??? ???? is an exciting new mixed-use development in the hub of Rosebank, Johannesburg. The structure of the existing 4 storey building, previously a bank, is being retained and stretched skywards. The building will consist of a ground floor restaurant, a #boutiquehotel and #coworkingspace The public areas around the building on the ground floor level will be activated as a pedestrian friendly landscape punctuated with sculptures, furniture & green spaces. The design aesthetic celebrates the history of the original building as a banking institution. The deep face brick exterior creates an impression of strength and resilience, which is softened by the greenery along the façade. The building then defragments into a minimalist crown at the top. This creates deep landscaped roof gardens from which to enjoy the views of the Johannesburg skyline & the avenues of Jacaranda trees below. #daffonchioandassociatesarchitects #considereddesign #architecture #heritage #contemporaryafricanliving #urbanredevelopment #urbandesign #regeneration #gothicconstruction #blendpropertygroup #mixedusedevelopment #rosebank #commercialrealestate #archdaily #localdesignza #architecture #architect
