As summer draws to a close, numerous operators are offering special reduced-rate deals on holidays around South Africa, even for those expensive places that usually only foreigners can afford. From safari lodges to train trips.
The 5-star Tintswalo Safari Lodge has introduced a special for South African residents that is valid until 31 March 2020. The lodge in the private Manyeleti Game Reserve shares an unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park. The all-inclusive 2-night package for 2 people sharing is R34 000 – instead of the normal R11,985 per person per night – and includes meals and house drinks, twice daily safari activities and complimentary transfers from Hoedspruit Airport. The eight gorgeous suites have private plunge pools and are each 19th century explorers.
Rovos Rail is offering a winter special of 50 percent off for two sharing a Deluxe Suite from Pretoria or Cape Town, or in reverse. From May through July, The Blue Train is offering 50 percent off the price of a second person after the first person books. The first person pays R29,615, the second half of that, for a Deluxe Suite on the train between Johannesburg and Cape Town.
South African National Parks offers numerous deals and discounts at its parks and camps across the country for most of the year. Many camps have a standard 5 percent discount for online bookings. In off season, bookings for long-stay camping at numerous parks qualify for a 50 percent discount, such as Lakeview Camp in Camdeboo, all camps in the Garden Route National Park and numerous camps in Kruger National Park.
