Two of Durban beachfront’s landmark hotels – the Elangeni and Maharani Hotels – shone brightly last night, Thursday 16 April 2020, bringing a message of hope and love to South Africa and the world.
With tourism being one of the industries struggling the most during the covid-19 pandemic, and hotels around the world shut down… the KwaZulu-Natal hotels turned on the lights in some of their empty rooms to shine a beautiful message of love and hope.
Tsogo Sun posted a photo on social media saying: “A heartfelt message from us to you during the lockdown. #SSEM #StrongerTogether.”
Many regular guests of the South African hotels flooded their timeline with gratitude for spreading love and hope during these coronavirus times. Seema Singh said: “Aawh.. Thank you.. Miss the hotel, the staff and the awesome atmosphere.. Hopefully my kids and I will be staying at this fabulous hotel soon. So many wonderful childhood memories for my kids. We just love the Elangeni Hotel. 🍹😁🙏😇”
The two Southern Sun Hotels are part of South Africa’s largest hotel chain – Tsogo Sun Hotels. Southern Sun was founded by SA hotelier Sol Kerzner, who recently passed away, and SA Breweries in 1969.
