Qatar Airways has announced that its repatriation flights from the USA to Johannesburg on May 16, 20, 24 and 28 May are now available for sale.
Craig Thomas, Head of Sales – North America, said the airline is accepting new bookings and rebookings for customers holding existing tickets on this route with Qatar Airways.
In a letter to customers Thomas said: “DIRCO clearance is NOT required in advance. Qatar Airways has confirmed with the South African government that all required passenger information will be submitted to the relevant South African authorities by the airline four days prior to the operation of the flight. For this reason, bookings will close for acceptance 108 hours prior to departure of the Doha-Johannesburg sector.”
The schedule from the USA is as follows:
- May 14/26 QR 730 depart Dallas DFW 21:45 arrive Doha 20:15 (May 15,27)
- May 16/28 QR 1363 depart Doha 10:10 arrive Johannesburg 18:05

Thomas said there are no transit hotel facilities available in Doha for the long transit.
“Customers are not allowed to leave the airport due to Qatar Immigration restrictions,” he says.

He said “Qatar Airways will not accept tickets issued by South African Airways or any other airline for these flights”.
