As devastated global airlines slowly move to reopening, Qatar Airways has announced that it is increasing onboard safety measures by having cabin crew wear disposable Hazmat suits over their uniforms and safety goggles, and that passengers have to wear masks.
Crew members have been wearing gloves and face masks for the last few weeks, the airline said in a statement. It was now introducing the personal protective equipment suits, as well as goggles. Passengers would be required to wear masks – preferably their own – from 25 May.
The airline said the added safety measure were “to provide even greater reassurance to customers in addition to enhanced hygienic measures already in place.”
