On 7 June, 2017, the Knysna fire erupted, causing devastation for 12 days on a scale never before seen in a South African town, and sadly led to the loss of life and destruction of many properties and businesses. Three years later, the town is looking incredible, and Rose “Travelbug” Billbrough, who was there during the fire, recently took some photos of just how great.

On the one-year anniversary of the fire, Working on Fire said on its website, “Following the initial deployment of the Working on Fire Riversdale Team, Working on Fire had, at the peak of the Knysna fire, dispatched 485 firefighters, 12 management, 12 Light Delivery Vehicles, 11 Fire Trucks, six Crew Busses, four Huey Helicopters, four Fixed Wing Spotter Planes and two 802 AT water bombers providing firefighting services to the Knysna and Plettenberg Bay fires.” W
