The Table Mountain Cableway, which has been shut for almost the whole of lockdown, will reopen for everyone on 1 September.
The cable car reopened two weeks ago for hikers who made it to the top of the mountain and needed to get down. But now it will be open for all. The number of passengers will be limited to 26 at a time, and the company is going cashless for tickets.
Working with its ticketing partner, Webtickets, tickets will now be virtual and mobile based – removing the need to print out or carry physical tickets. Go the Table Mountain Cableway website for more details.
“We are really looking forward to being able to carry local visitors and domestic travellers up to the top of Table Mountain,” said Wahida Parker, Managing Director at TMACC. “Just in time for Tourism Month, South Africans now have an opportunity to explore their country and its rich diversity of natural treasures, and we invite visitors to come experience our very own New7Wonder of Nature.”
