This past weekend saw the return of a spring and summer regular in the Western Cape, the Cape Doctor, much to the delight of the city’s kite surfers!
The summer trade winds (strong to gale-force south-east winds) typically blow from October/November through to February/March – with the peak of the wind hitting in December/January.
Over the weekend, Mother Nature reminded us what we have in store over the next few months. Luckily when the wind does die down, the Cape quickly returns to its typical picture-perfect old self.
These images were taken from above Muizenberg on Boyes drive, looking down onto Surfers Corner and across False Bay. On these high wind days, the only real winners are the kite surfers who love the strong onshore SE winds.
